The Bridport Prize is now welcoming submissions for their annual competitions

  • Poems – 42 lines maximum
  • Short stories – 5000 words maximum
  • Flash Fiction – 250 words maximum

Titles are not included in the word counts.

  • £1000 second prize
  • £500 Third prize

Museo de la Palabra Short Tales Contest

“Words and Freedom”

Entries for the third Museo de la Palabra (Museum of the Word) Short Tales Contest for International Flash Fiction are now being accepted. The Flash Fiction stories must not exceed 100 words; can be written in Hebrew, English, Arabic or Spanish and fit the slogan “Words and Freedom” – deadline on the International Day of Words,  23rd November 2012.

  • $20,000 top prize
  • $ 1,000 will be awarded to three runners up for the best stories from the languages supported in the competition

The Home-Start Bridgewater Short Story Prize 2013

Entries are now invited for the Home-Start Bridgewater short story prize 2013. Stories, on any theme, must not be more than 2,200 words in length, should be the original, unpublished work of the author and not have won a prize in any previous competition- closing date 21st January 2013.

Judge: Dame Margaret Drabble

  • 1st Prize – £500
  • 2nd Prize – £200
  • 3rd Prize – £100

Entry Fee £7 per Story (All proceeds going to the Charity’s work)

Creative Writing for All – Short Story Contest

Entries are now invited for short stories of up to 2,000 words and poems of up to 40 lines on the theme of ‘Childhood Memories’ – Closing Date: 31st January 2013
